How's that for a courageous woman somewhere down in Africa?!

Marlice van Vuuren, living in Namibia, is certainly one brave lady!

Marlice grew up surrounded by animals on her parents' farm in Namibia where she has been given refuge for injured or orphaned animals.

As she also came into close contact to the San Bushmen community, she is one of only a handful of white people who can speak their language.

And yes, cheetahs are fast. See what Ben Johnson, Jamaican born Canadian Olympic 100m runner, had to say about these wonderful animals:

"Absolutely. I cheetah all the time."

This clip directed by Laurent Frapat demonstrates more about these wonderful animals.

The cheetah reaches by far the fastest land speed of any living animal. Between 70 and 75 mph (112 and 120 km/h). It has the ability to accelerate from 0 to over 100 km/h (62mph) in an unbelievable just 3 seconds!

Unfortunately, In Namibia, one of the cheetah’s last open habitats,  the lands where they live have been taken over by farmers. The cheetah has been called a nuisance.

Olivia Mokiejewski joins Marlice Van Vuuren and her husband Rudy at N/a’an ku sê, a center they created to give shelter to numerous wild orphaned animals.

And then there's another woman, Riana Van Nieuwenhuizen who lives with 4 cheetahs, 2 tigers and 5 lions!

46-year-old Riana said: "I love them all. But they're a handful."

And finally, we leave you with what actor and ex-governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger once remarked:

"I just use my muscles as a conversation piece, like someone walking a cheetah down 42nd Street."

  1. She is indeed a courageous woman.
All the animals have a special feeling to know the other person is it aggressive or not, Sensitization through waves that come out of people to animals and this is a real sense of them.
