Everybody Should Get A Divorce (Osho)

Late Indian spiritual guru Osho argues that everybody should get a divorce…

"Marriage…means cutting down your freedom."

"Freedom to me is the ultimate value – there is nothing higher than freedom."

"Marriage or becoming celibate – both are ditches. I’m going to walk just in the middle – on a razor’s edge."

"I would like marriage to disappear completely form the world; with marriage, divorce will disappear."

"It is marriage that is creating all kind of psychological perversions, repressions, guilt…"

And then he continues with even more radical concepts…

Maybe not, Osho gets support from American entertainer Will Rogers (1879-1935) who said:

I guess the only way to stop divorce is to stop marriage.

So is there really nothing which underpins marriage?

Maybe we should focus more on the practical aspects of this ‘infinite bond of marriage’, as Zsa Zsa Gabor once remarked:

I’m an excellent housekeeper. Every time I get a divorce, I keep the house.
