The marvelous Dubai opera house project by Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher is now being built.
Another architectural miracle will be built in Dubai. The naturally elegant design of the dune-shaped Dubai Opera House is supposed to reflect the 'cultural side' of the rapidly growing emirate, according to Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
"I will always have two regrets. I don't have a presence in London, and I would have liked to have done more work in the Middle East."
(Zaha Hadid)
Baghdad-born architect Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher designed this impressive opera house, which will be built on an island in Dubai's Creek area (lagoons district of Dubai). It will feature two libraries, a school for music, an outdoor theatre, a marina and a luxury hotel. Additionally two museums are planned, one of which will be dedicated to art while the other will be multidisciplinary.
The arts gallery is going to sport 5'000 m2 of exhibition space. The hotel will offer rooms in a 6 star setting.
"I don't think that architecture is only about shelter, is only about a very simple enclosure. It should be able to excite you, to calm you, to make you think."
(Zaha Hadid)
"I really believe in the idea of the future."
