Richard Dawkins explains Pope Ratzinger's contortions regarding Adolf Hitler and atheism.
British popular science author, ethologist and evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins points out that Adolf Hitler was a Roman Catholic – for Hitler never renounced his baptismal Catholicism. Was Adolf Hitler an atheist? |
Here’s part of a telltale speech Hitler made in Munich, the heart of Catholic Bavaria, in 1922:
My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Saviour as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who – God's truth! – was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross.

So how to get out of this religious mess? Let's see what famous Indian guru Osho has to say about the subject:
If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinion for or against.
Don’t be a theist and don’t be an atheist if you really want to know what truth is.
Don’t say, "There is God"; don't say, "There is not", because whatsoever you say will become a deep desire.
And whatsoever is there hidden in the desire you will project.(Osho)
