As it slips away

Don’t worry about it!

What if this is
the last time
you see me

what if I do
break your heart
to tiny little pieces

what if it does
take you
the rest of your life
to forget about me…

Do you still want to be here?
In this moment; with me?

While you worry about tomorrow,
put walls around your heart
to shield it from some pain,

the only thing you will regret,
is all the laughter
and every tear
that were yours,
but you turned them away,
denied them
and did not share.

In this moment

as it slips away.
